First exhibition of 2019

First exhibition of 2019

Well, it’s been a little while since I had a group show, it’s always a little daunting having an exhibition. The amount of anxious effort to have enough quality work ready by a specific time can be exhausting. There’s always a number of works that never make it, ones that just don’t have the magic that warrants their exposure to the public. Images that just don’t come together no matter how hard you try, they just don’t express what you want them to. I’ve been experimenting with a very limited range of paint colours, so there’s been lots of subtle mixing going on. The subject matter of course is the beautiful area that I live in, South Gippsland which still sings to me. Plus they are predominantly very small works only 15 cm x 15 cm. Someone told me that to exhibit your art work you need a huge ego. I am definitely not feeling ego driven at the moment but rather apprehensive and a little nervous but I am ready !
